Pro Am practice

OMG it really has been such a strange year all round… my 2020 started off well as my team and I won the Tarleton Mixed team championship at Almerimar in January. It was a first for me as it was the very first time I had played, and as luck has it MY FAB TEAM WON… so I am the ONLY professional to do the Tarleton GRAND SLAM! I have won the Ladies pro-am the Mixed Pro-am and now the mixed team championship, so my year was off and running.

The pro am winning team I then had my first golf school at Islantilla at the beginning of March and everything seamed ok, but how wrong was I……I had sooo many things planned, soo many trips and golf schools full. But from March, in fact the day before my birthday we went in to lockdown 1.0. 9 weeks of lockdown was not great. I decided to do some videos for Facebook (twitter and YouTube) on indoor putting, chipping etc. It was fun seeing people’s reactions to them, mostly good. I also got my running shoes on and did 10k most days. I really enjoy that. We then got let out, it was great to be able to teach and meet people, but all my schools and trips were cancelled — BOOOO!

yay! we won!

yay! we won!

Everything was getting sort of back and then bang, lockdown 2.0. This one for sure was harder, but we got through it. I was lucky I had Such great people around me, so got through it. Got back to teaching and we were busy as golf was one of the sports we could do! Me, well my little fall while taking the rubbish to the bin cost me 2 broken ribs and NO golf, omg how sore was that. I would not wish it on anyone. But now thank God I am ok, still a tad sore from time to time but ok.

As the year went on I started my groups again but only in groups of 6. Theses were at Bedfordshire GC and Kingsway. My one-to-one lessons took off too. I believe lots of golf pros did well with coaching as there was not that many things people could do. Every golf club took on new members so the courses and ranges were full. I have missed soo much doing my cake and clubs groups with the ladies, and I believe the girls missed them too! As we came to the end of the year the weather became wet cold and damp, but the ranges remain busy. Now we were all looking forward to 2021 I have schools planned and I will hopefully get my cake and club sessions going again plus building up the one-to-one sessions and on-course tuition as well.

So Christmas and New Year came and we all got through, yes let’s rock… but we did not get too far in before Lockdown 3.0! For me it was back to doing more videos for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, doing my bit to keep peoples spirits up. Have to say I do enjoy doing them. Time to catch up with people and do some online learning from the PGA, as that never stops for a golf pro. Doing more running and keeping fit so when we get “out” I am ready to go. I don’t know as yet just when we will be able to go to Spain for schools, so I am planning some in the UK. Back to work for me on more videos…..#staysafe out there and I look forward to getting back to some sort of normal ASAP!!
