Since I returned home from my schools in Spain I have been busy. I know, I know but it has to be done, looking at dates for the end of this year and also ready for next year. It’s not quite as simple as looking for venues and flights. Fortunately I have great help from Brian and the Tarleton team behind me every step of the way making sure we get the right deals and tee times. We have built the 2019 programme now so please do have a look at both my golf schools page and the Tarleton website to see what we have that would fit with your needs and dates.

I have been busy with my individual and group coaching sessions. My cake and clubs sessions continue to be popular. The seniors sessions and the ladies coaching groups continue to thrive. I also have some 3 hour short games sessions available – whether it be to concentrate on bunker practice or pitching along with playing on the par 3 course. I have been able to take some time out to work with other professional coaches. I visited a good friend of mine, Peter Ball, who is a Master Professional and a top guy. I have learnt so much from him over time. I have also worked in the swing zone at the Open in Scotland alongside other great professionals as well as Peter. It is exciting being close to some of the world’s best players and coaches – including Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlory, Justin Spieth, Brooks Keopka and Justin Rose – their coaches Sean Folley, Butch Harmon etc. I just love the opportunity and experiences… and I’m just like a kid in a sweet shop. We coach for 5 hours and perhaps work with about 30 people in that time. Of course it’s quite hard work but also great fun, helping people, watching how others structure their sessions and picking up new techniques. It’s a long drive to and from Scotland but it really is worth it.

The Open is special and this year it was really good with a fantastic champion in Francisco. I was then home for just 1 week before travelling up to the Ladies British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Ann’s. What a good week that was too. I had a really great experience watching Danny Adams coaching his players . I also had time to join spectators on the course as well as time to join up with some long standing friends, including Anne McGivern whom I went to school with. I spent time with Sandy MacKenzie who now works for Sky TV as the on course voice, Trish Johnson and Alison who I was on tour with. Trish gave me a great plug on TV. Over the week I coached 80 15 minute sessions, mostly ladies from very young to an 89 year old. Really so much fun #whyilovegolf, #welovegolf, #ladaiescoaching, #PGAProfessional, #happycoach. All in all it was a great time and what a winner in Georgia Hall. She was so cool throughout the week and a very worthy winner.
Now back home for my ladies groups personal trainer days and one-to-one coaching on the course. My par 3 challenge was a good success with 11 ladies playing the Bedfordshire GC par 3. They played the 10% rule – So when playing 60 to 100 yards in and shot 10% or closer from the flag, they scored 5 additional points. It was a tough challenge in the wind on the day but everyone had a good time and learnt much more about how to play these shots adjusting to the weather, wind and slopes on the greens. I have also had a number of wine and wedges groups, with everyone having fun around the greens and a glass of wine at the end. Then off to Rosie’s for a BBQ. Thank you Rosie, you were fab.
