| Valle del Este, Spain 2007
8–15 March 2007
After saying goodbye to my new friends in Almeria I hit the road to Valle del Este to meet my new group. They told me it was wet and grey back home, so they were very pleased to see the sunshine of Spain, especially after the wind died down. Our first day at Valle del Este was a good one, starting with chipping, then long game, a bite of lunch then out on the course.
It was real “millionaires golf” for us that day, with what seemed like just my group on the course, very nice.
Day 2 we headed off to Desert Springs, a beautiful course of contrasting lush grass, hard sandy areas and spectacular boulders to navigate our way around. Good practice facilities too and we concentrated on putting, with different drills and ideas to work on. We then hit the driving range, for some long game, more drills and how to think better on the golf course.
After lunch we played the course which was in good condition. In fact both of our courses were a pleasure to play, and especially for me as they were the first two lots of 18holes I have walked since I dislocated my knee. I am so pleased to say all was well and I hit the ball ok too!!!
Day 3 back to Valle del Este, where we started with some more putting drills, a chipping challenge, and then long game, a bite of lunch then on to the course. The player who scored the best was Mel with 31 points.
My group were ready for their day off. Some of them had a little practice, some shopped, some went fishing, and me I sat in the sun, caught up on some work, and went to the gym... a nice day.
Day 4 off we went back to Desert Springs to do bunkers and pitching, then on to the course for round 2 of our competition. Where Nigel was the top scorer with 30 points round a very tricky course.
Our last day was at Valle del Este in great sunshine and a little light wind to add an extra challenge for my group. We recapped all we had learned during the weeks tuition, and I got everyone to try and just think of the shot in hand, not to dwell on the past, and to just think of the target.
So out they went on the course, and enjoyed their last day, where Maureen had the top score with 29 and top player of the week was Ann with 84 points.
Well done to every one, it was a good week, with great people, a big thank you to you all, and keep up the practice!!!
